Re: 100s Meet Sunday 9th November. There is a potential problem for those of you coming to Copthall on Sunday for the first session for which warm up / card posting is at 12:00 noon. In previous years on Remembrance Sunday there has been a ceremony at 11:00ish at the cenotaph in Hendon which involves closing the A41 for a period of time. I can find no information on the internet at the moment but IF this is happening again this year it will affect those of you approaching Copthall from the south along the A41. It may be a good idea to get your maps / sat. nav.
The following sessions have been changed or cancelled in November and December - note that one of these changes (Sunday 16th November) is in addition to previously announced changes and one (Thursday 4th December) has been further amended.
There were even more medals for Barnet Copthall masters on the final day of the championships. In the morning session both Duncan Hartley (40-44) and Barnet Copthall's synchro coach Emma Harvey (25-29) won gold in the 800 free with Elaine Blower* (60-64) taking a silver.
Well! Mark Reynold's time for the 100 free yesterday was indeed another record - he set a new British record of 53.12. But, what I should also have spotted was that John Rittenhouse went one better with a new European record in the 200 backstroke of 2:22.52. “It was a great swim and a four second personal best,” said John.
Another great swim from Charlie Boldison this weekend - fresh from an NQT at the inter-counties last week, Charlie improved on his 100 backstroke qualifying time with a 58.05sc at the ESSA championships in Enfield today. Just wait until the season starts properly and he really warms up!
