The last day of the National Age Groups today - and another final for Maddie Tichborne who swam a PB of 2:28.27 in the 200 IM. At the end of a long gruelling week, Maddie couldn't improve on this time in the final and finished in 10th place. She finished in 4th place overall in the Girls 13 years BAGCAT ratings - well done Maddie!
Barnet Copthall hosted the Masters Distance Swim Meet last weekend attracting swimmers from Holland, Spain, Italy, Ireland as well as top swimmers from all corners of the UK.
The competition saw a total of two European, three British and five Irish records set. Barnet Copthall swimmers did well amid strong competition with club chairman Mark Reynolds just outside his own British record for 200m freestyle.
In the boys 100 fly, 11 year old George Kapanadze bettered his old time by 2 seconds to set a new PB of 1:16.35. The girls 4 x 200 freestyle team (Nicola Burlingham, Angelina Filippone, Shannon Powell and Maddie Tichborne) were competing against some very big city clubs but nonetheless qualified for the final with a time of 9:08.26. This was 5 seconds faster than their qualifying swim in the London Region championships - well done girls!
