This morning started with yet another big PB for Poppy Chapple (are we surprised?) who took nearly 4 seconds of her time for the 200 free. In the boys 200 back which followed, Yaron Ash, just back from the Maccabiah Games, also improved on his best time and earned himself a place in the final.
Fresh (hopefully?) after a nights sleep following her exertions and gold medal yesterday, Maddie Tichborne made yet another final this morning qualifying for the 13 year girls 400 free final. Later in the same session the Barnet Copthall Synchronised Butterfly Team struck!
Some very good swims for Yaron Ash at the 18th Maccabiah Games in Israel. Swimming against 14 and 15 year old opponents from all over the world, 13 year old Yaron achieved 8th place in the 200 back, 200 free and 100 back.
His time in the heats of the 50 free of 27.10LC was good enough to equal* the current Barnet Copthall record for 50 free (13yrs) of 26.30SC. The record was set by Barnet Copthall coachJomelson Ramosin 1998.
An excellent start for Barnet Copthall swimmers on the first day of the National Age Group Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield! Poppy Chapple and Emily Bell, swimming in the first event of their first Nationals both qualified for the final of the Girls 11yrs 400IM. Both swam PBs - in Poppy's case a huge 5 second PB.
