In yesterday's 200 fly (17/18 yrs) final, Oliver Keegan swam 2:04.77 (identical to his heat time) for a 6th place finish. He remained the fastest 17 year old. This morning Oliver was in action again in the 100 fly and secured a place in the semi-finals with a 57.36. In the semis, Oliver improved his time to 57.07 but unfortunately just missed a final place.
Obviously anxious to emulate his younger brother William, who made both butterfly finals at National Age Groups, Oliver Keegan qualified as 3rd fastest for the 17/18 yrs 200 fly semi-finals. In fact with a 2:04.77 he was the fastest 17 year old in what were very closely contested heats - the top 6 swimmers were within a second of each other. In the semi-finals, Oliver went slightly faster with 2:04.54 to qualify 5th fastest for the final - still the fastest 17 year old.
And so we came to the last day of the National Age Groups - a championships in which Barnet Copthall swimmers have done exceptionally well. The last individual events were the 400 IM for both girls and boys.
