Congratulations to James O'Shea on his 4th place in a Paralympic final only 2 years after embarking on a career in competitive swimming. In last nights final, James was well up in a medal position for the first 75 metres faded slightly towards the end of the race.
Everyone at Barnet Copthall wishes the very best of luck to Paralympian James O'Shea in tomorrow morning's heats** of the 100m breaststroke - and hopefully in tomorrow evening's final!
In fact, it seems that large numbers of Barnet Copthall swimmers, ex-swimmers, parents, committee members, coaches .. and general hangers-on ... will be there at one or both sessions. So, if you are watching on the television, look out for familiar faces in the crowd wearing Copthall tops..
Go Copthall .......... oh, alright ......... go Team GB!
It seems that you can't turn on the television these days without seeing a former Barnet Copthall swimmer! During the Olympics Mark Foster was never off our screens and today I turn on the breakfast Paralympics programme to find not only Chris Holmes (now someone REALLY big in LOCOG) but also Giles Long (swimming commentator extra-ordinaire).
Further information about the Masters Sprints Meet, including revised session times, competitor list by club, heat/lane allocation for session 1 and psych sheet for session 2, can now be found on the COMPETITIONS section of this website.
