I am told that Paige Powell's 100 fly time of 1:06.32 which earned her a 4th place in the National Age Group final, was also a club record. And what a record to break - it had previously been held by Lauren Chapple since 2005. Well done, Paige!
Another medal for Freddie Cornwell on this the final day of National Age Groups - this time a bronze in the 400 IM. Freddie went 4:54.83 in the heats this morning but was clearly taking it easy as he improved this by 6 seconds in the final for a 3rd place finish in 4:48.77. So that makes 3 gold, 2 silver and a bronze - not a bad week's work!
I haven't seen confirmation that he is BAGCAT champion but it seems very likely!
Freddie Cornwell probably entered the pool with something to prove to himself today and certainly achieved it. In the 200 free he qualified as second fastest for the final with 2:02.65 and then he knocked over 2 seconds of this time in the final for a 2:00.27 and his third gold medal of these championships. In the 100 fly later in the morning, he was third in the heats with 1:02.35 and improved this in the evening to 1:00.66 and a silver medal in the final.
