Many congratulations to the following swimmers who have been recognised by being chosen to attend the England Talent Identification Day on 27 October: Freddie Cornwell, Joe Zlotnick, Yaron Gerber, Thomas Cheng, Felix Cheng, Sofia Godfey, Gemma Hunter, Megan Byrne and Bradley Stavinec.
Also to Emily Bell and Karis Fuller who have been included in the AASE programme.
We always knew what s depth of talent we had - lovely to see that the powers that be also know!
Yesterday it was the 50 free - no medals for Copthall sadly (although Ian once again pronounced his own swim 'magnificent') but organisers and volunteers at Copthall home meets may be interested to note that there were nearly 1000 competitors in the men's 50 free! That's 100 heats. Oh boy!
Another medal today - bronze for Elaine Blower in the 200 backstoke. Congratulations Elaine!
Coach Ian Woollard is celebrating getting through both the 50 fly and the 100 free without the need of an emergency rescue and Andrew Swanston and Emma Harvey, having finished all their events, are starting the long drive back to Spain.
Tomorrow it's the 50 free (no doubt HUNDREDS of entries) and 100 back, and then on Saturday the Open Water.
Another early start for Barnet Copthall swimmers (and their coach!) at the European Masters in Eindhoven - on the 6am bus in order to be on the blocks for the first event at 8am. Yes, I know, I know, there are younger swimmers everywhere saying that 6am is practically lunchtime!
Anyway, despite this, no problems for Georgie Hamilton who won silver in the 200 fly (70-74) - only 0.2 seconds off gold and a fantastic race apparently! Congratulations Georgie!
