Yesterday the Open Water events for the older age groups were held at the Rother Valley Country Park near Sheffield. Barnet Copthall swimmers Gemma Hunter and Miranda Willis took part in the Girls 15/16 age group and swam extremely well, finishing 6th and 7th respectively.
There will be two Barnet Copthall finalists in the 100 fly this evening - nearly three. Sadly, Thomas Cheng just missed out on a final place with a 12th place finish in 1:03.72. Felix Cheng, also swimming in the 13 years age group, swam a 1:01.71 and goes into the final 4th fastest. Luca Sinnot (14 years) cut things a bit fine but goes into the final as 10th fastest in 1:00.64.
Another day, another final qualification for Meghan Byrne. Having rested yesterday evening (well, that's my theory!) Meghan had the 200 free today and, suitably refreshed (continuing with the theory), swam a 2:09.09 to qualify for the final as 3rd fastest. Felix Cheng just missed out on a 400 IM final with 12th place in 5:03.86.
