A team of seven Barnet Copthall swimmers competed at the English Schools Swimming Association Inter-Divisional Championships last week end. Emily Bell, Meghan Byrne, Frederick Cornwell, Karis Fuller, Yaron Gerber, Luca Sinnott & Bradley Slavinec competed for the London Team in the Long Course meet in Bristol.
Many congratulations to Bradley Slavinec of Barnet Copthall. His time of 15:58.93* earned him a gold medal in the 18 years and under 1500m free at the British Gas International Meet currently being held at the Manchester Aquatics Centre. * Rhys has just let me know that this time is also a new Men's club record - by about 10 seconds!
Many of you may remember, in the Autumn of 2012, a visiting masters swimmer, Andrew Louw, literally died on poolside at the end of a Barnet Copthall Masters competition. Thanks to the prompt and expert actions of GLL's Barnet Copthall staff his life was saved and he suffered no long term effects.
And now there is a second life which would not have been but for these lifesavers. Andrew and his wife Nikki have sent us news of the birth of their son Jac who was born in South Africa on May 10th.
