Masters Christmas Party

The annual Masters Christmas party was held on Saturday.  A great time was had by all and everybody appreciated the hard work of Adam Freer who put the whole thing together. Thanks Adam.
Before mentioning the awards etc, I felt that all Masters swimmers would want news of Don Payne - many of you were aware that he was taken ill at the dinner and had to leave early.
Message from Don Payne:-
I would be pleased if you could pass a message of thanks for the concern and assistance given to Joanie and  myself last night; it was much appreciated.  We had a good nights sleep and I feel OK but will get checked out by the doctor this week.
The ever generous Masters raised £293 from the raffle and another of our swimmers promised to match the contributions with a similar amount so a total of £586 is heading to the Teenage Cancer Trust in a few days time.  Thanks to everybody who donated the many prizes and to those who bought tickets for the raffle.
Congratulation to swimmers of the year:-
Most improved swimmer - Elaine Blower for breaking a 14 year old British Record and for great performances over the year.
Female competitor of the year - Rachael Coleman for her adventures at the European Masters in Eindhoven.
Male competitor of the year - Mark Reynolds (who else?) for his multiple record breaking performances over the year and the major role he played in the Middlesex County Team (The Heroes of Horsham) swimming 13 events and describing the competition as "fun".
Finally - many thanks from Jeanette and from me for the generous gifts from the masters. Wishing everyone an even more successful 2014.
