Masters Nationals Day 1

Report from Ian:

Good news today.

Two Women’s 200+ relays and two British records BUT........

Whilst the 4x100 freestyle relay broke the record and wiped the floor with every other team, the 4x50 medley team finished second by 0.15 secs. Trafford Metro snuck in and beat us with both teams breaking the old record.

The same swimmers competed In both events:  Christine Porter, Melissa Cannon, Cate Jackson and Lisa Dawson.

Mark Reynolds narrowly missed his target record on 200 freestyle but was nevertheless five seconds faster than everyone else in his age group. He moves into a new age group next year so look out for more records in 2018!

There was a bronze medal for first time national swimmer Helen Barrison and some great swims by everyone else.

UPDATE: The 4 x 100m freestyle relay was not just a gold medal, not just a British record, not just a European record but a WORLD RECORD!!!!!!
