Masters Swimming - Hat Trick for Harrington

Congratulations to John Harrington on his hat-trick of British Records this year.

Not only did he break British Records for age group 75-79 years for the 400m and 800m Freestyle in July at the Barnet Copthall Masters Distance Meet, he also improved both records at the Masters Nationals at Sheffield but narrowly missed the 1500m Freestyle record.

At the end of November, he returned to Barnet Copthall for the 1500m Meet and achieved his 3rd British record improving on the old record by eight seconds. Well done John. With a little more work on his pacing I am confident he will swim even faster next year.

Once again our 1500m Freestyle competition was visited by many swimmers from around Great Britain and Ireland. Swimmers flew in from Dublin and Belfast especially to swim the event. Their efforts were worthwhile as they happily returned home with new Irish and Ulster records tucked under their belts. A number of swimmers from Wales also returned home across the Severn with new Welsh records.
