A huge thank you to the officials for their hard work, to the supporters for their enthusiasm (despite probably having to park somewhere near Birmingham) and to all the swimmers for swimming so well and producing so many close finishes to the races. The results are on their way to Swim England Rankings office for inclusion on the national rankings which should help some people with their qualifying times for Sheffield in October.
And don't forget the 1500m in November ...............
Barnet Copthall Swimming Club is 40 years old this year and an informal gathering of the "originals" was held at the Three Hammers last night - around 55 made it to the evening including lots of original parents. After a few second looks and double takes, eventually people recognised each other from the young teenagers they were (and still are in their own eyes). Swapping stories and reminiscences from years ago as if they were only yesterday.
A number of Barnet Copthall masters swimmers set themselves the task of swimming 5 million metres in the calendar year 2018.
They started on 1st January 2018 and they completed their task this morning 15 September. In the photo are L to R Jim Hobsley, Sean McQuaid, John Rittenhouse, Mark Reynolds, Simon Marsden and David Gelb (front).
